So
what is this story about? Keep reading below
"I am no sinner. I am no witch. I am nothing."
Rumors abound about Berenice's ancestors, though she wishes only for a peaceful life. That might be possible, but not with these black dogs that came out of nowhere only days ago, and whose sole purpose seem to haunt her. Only she can see them. Is she losing her mind?
This stalking, though, is only the first of her problems. Her world turns upside down with the return of Iszak, the boy who abandoned her six years ago to "go back to his water kingdom."
He's not the only unexpected visitor —there's also Beatrix, a traveller with a suspicious interest in the local folklore and in Berenice's private life.
The Visit of the Selkie tells the story of 19yo Berenice, a lonely girl who lives in a tower by the sea. She has an angry cat, a shotgun, and lots of repressed feelings. No friends. No family. As you might guess, her life sucks and she's an anxious mess. Nothing could have prepared her for what's to come: a
rekindled passion, unexpected allies and foes, and fear,
so much fear. Sure, love may overcome any obstacle, but she might as well end up dead... or worse.
Also, selkies! Witchcraft! Angst and paranoia! Romantic landscapes and storms! It's the perfect read for a rainy day. You can grab a cup of hot chocolate and lose yourself within its pages.
If you love fairytales, mythology, period dramas and intimate stories, you will very much enjoy
The Visit of the Selkie.
I even made
