Nightmare Eater

In the novel I´m writing, children are sometimes disturbed by a night creature called Dream-Eater or Nightmare-Eater.

It´s an ethereal being that can show itself under many shadows, but when it gets a body, it looks like a small humanoid with sharp and big teeth and yellow, big and round glowing eyes, its body surrounded by smoke or ribbons of fog.

It´s not too dangerous, but very very annoying and scary for children. People can keep the Dream-eater away by putting an iron star with seven tips on the top of the children´s bed.
